What You Should Know Before You Switch to LED Lights

If you haven’t converted to LED lights yet, here’s what you should know about them.

As time goes on, more businesses are breaking away from incandescent bulbs and embracing the efficiency of LED lighting. But some companies are still apprehensive about the idea. There’s a reason that people continue to flock to LED lights, actually many reasons. If you haven’t converted to LED lights yet, here’s what you should know about them.

It’s Easy to Switch Out Traditional Bulbs with LED Lights

People might think it’s a hassle to install LED lighting because of replacing your fixtures, but it’s actually a simple procedure. You don’t even have to replace your current fixtures. All you have to do is take your screw-in traditional bulbs and replace them with your screw-in LED lights. Just be sure that the LEDs you pick are comparable with the incandescent lights you’re removing.

LED Lights Can Save You Money

Initially, you may think LED lights are more expensive, and that’s partially true. They have a higher upfront cost when compared with incandescent bulbs. However, they will save you money over time. They last much longer than traditional lights. Some lights can last up to 20 years before needing replacing, which is roughly ten times longer than other lighting options. LEDs also don’t suddenly burn out. Instead, they decline more gradually.

LED Lights Use Less Energy

LED lights can convert most of the energy they consume into light energy, around 95%. This is different from incandescent bulbs that only put out 10% light while putting out 90% heat. This makes LED bulbs more energy efficient.

Not All LED Lights are the Same

LED lights come in different shapes and sizes. You’ll want to go with lights that fit into the nooks and crannies around your business. Fortunately, LEDs are smaller on average than their incandescent counterparts, making it easy to find a light that suits your needs.

LEDs Have Light Direction Flexibility

It’s hard for incandescent lights to direct light where they want that light to go. With LEDs, you can concentrate the light where you need it the most because LED bulbs are directional.

Some LED Lights Can Be Dimmed

Traditional bulbs have two settings: on and off. With LED lighting, you get to decide how much light you want in your building at any time. This not only gives you optimal lighting levels, but it also cuts down on energy costs since you don’t use up excess energy.
