5 Mistakes to Avoid with Your Commercial Lighting

In general, customers are less likely to shop around in areas where they cannot see your products as well.

Of all the elements that work together to bring attention to your business and provide a high-quality experience for your customers and clients, the lighting is an area of significance. In general, customers are less likely to shop around in areas where they cannot see your products as well. Check out these five mistakes to avoid with your commercial lighting.

No LED Lights

If your commercial lighting system doesn’t include LED bulbs, then you’re missing out on a lot of opportunities. For one, LED bulbs and lighting fixtures are great for the environment and your pockets. They provide up to 11 years of continuous operation, meaning you’ll spend less time and money changing out the bulbs. They also use less electricity and less electricity means less environmental impact.

Light Pollution

There is such a thing as too much light. Too many light fixtures can create light pollution, which decreases visibility. Either too many lighting fixtures and improperly placed fixtures can make it difficult for people to see. Make sure that your system features the right number and placement of installations as well as the proper voltage so that your customers can see all that you have to offer in your store.

No Variety with Fixtures

Using the same lighting fixtures throughout your commercial lighting system is not a good idea. Instead, you should use fixtures that are different, but complement each other to create a decorative pattern. This will create more visual interest and add charm to the look of your property. A good mixture of different fixtures also helps avoid light pollution.

Lack of Purpose

All your lighting should serve an identified purpose. Outdoor commercial lighting, in particular, should be in a position to provide safety for your customers, highlight or advertise your business, or highlight other focal points on the property. Use the lighting to help you achieve specified goals rather than just for area coverage.

Inadequate Amount of Light

Having too much light in one area is just as bad as not having enough light. Low lighting or not enough lighting fixtures also contributes to poor visibility. Make sure that the lighting in your system is adequate for full coverage as poor lighting leads to lower safety conditions and overall unpleasant shopping experience.
